Singapore Uncovered 2007
DESIGNING SINGAPORE
4th October 2007 at Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington High Street, London W8

Influential Singaporean architect and urban planner Liu Thai Ker will be making a rare London appearance for a panel discussion entitled Designing Singapore, which will discuss the future of Singapore’s architecture and development. The discussion will be chaired by RIBA President (2005-2007) Jack Pringle and will feature a special introduction by former Singapore Prime Minister and current Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. Other panellists featured are British architects Michael Wilford CBE and Graham Cartledge.

The panel discussion is part of Singapore Uncovered 2007, a mini-festival presented by Asia House and Damask Asia, spotlighting Singapore’s contemporary society and its increasingly intriguing arts scene. Singapore is a youthful and ambitious city-state with the political will and insight to become a world city that responds to 21st century agendas. Despite its cutting-edge arts scene and its rich, vibrant, culture, Singapore seems to have been overlooked by Britain as a significant player in today’s international contemporary arts scene.

The Singapore Uncovered 2007 festival takes place in London from 4th – 13th October (SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS). It features some of the most influential figures in contemporary Singaporean culture today: former Singaporean Prime Minister and current Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, architect-planner Liu Thai Ker, acclaimed film director Eric Khoo and actor, director and playwright Jonathan Lim, among many other fascinating guest speakers from both Singapore and Britain.
